What you need to know to plan your trip

Kariba Airport is an international airport. Although no commercial international airlines currently fly into this airport, the customs and immigration officials, posted at the Dam Wall border post, will assist with entry and exit formalities for guests arriving on an international charter. We will arrange for the officials to meet guests on arrival and departure at the airport.

Guests can make use of the Bumi Air shuttle service between Bumi Hills Airfield and either Harare or Victoria Falls. This shuttle operates at a minimum of 3 times weekly on both sectors.

We can arrange road transfers between Matusadona and Chirundu or Lusaka in Zambia and from tourist destinations in Zimbabwe.

All travelers to Zimbabwe require a visa, which is easiest obtained at the port of entry into the country. Those entering Zimbabwe on a passport other than a Southern African States passport are required to pay a visa fee. For a single entry visa, the cost is US$ 30 pp, whereas a double entry will cost US$ 45 pp.

Zimbabwe is a malaria area and we recommend that travellers seek advice from their doctor and/or travel clinic on the use of anti‐malarial prophylactics. Please consult your Foreign Offices and Consular Sections for further travel, health and safety advisories.

Simple Logistics

You want your holiday to go seamlessly,
and we’re here to ensure that desire becomes reality.

The MV Matusadona is the only luxury motor cruiser of its kind on Lake Kariba, and is easily accessed from Kariba International Airport and from the domestic airfields within the Matusadona National Park and surrounding safari areas.

Boarding and Disembarking

We suggest that guests board and disembark from either Marineland Harbour (Kariba Town) or from Bumi Hills Airfield. Boarding and disembarking times:

Location

Marineland Harbour

Bumi Hills

Embark (Earliest)

09h00

11h00

Disembark (Latest)

Marineland Harbour

If guests choose to board at Marineland Harbour, we recommend boarding well before lunch time. This will allow for a substantial cruise on the lake to find a quiet mooring point for the first night. Marineland Harbour is a 25 minute drive from Kariba International Airport and a 15 minute drive from the Zimbabwean border post at the Kariba Dam Wall.

Bumi Hills Airfield

The Bumi Hills Airfield is a domestic airstrip, situated on the shores of Lake Kariba, about 60 km South‐West of Kariba Town. Private air charters can make use of the airfield (BHZ / FVBM). Alternatively, guests can fly between Victoria Falls and this airfield on one of the scheduled flights operated by Bumi Air (01h15). A vehicle transfer from the airfield to the Bumi Hills Jetty will only take 5 minutes.
